The SMAS is the structural layer under the fat, the one that actually holds facial tissue up. Most RF devices only reach the superficial dermis. To affect anything deeper, they need more passes, more heat, or more sessions stacked closer together.
XERF runs two frequencies through the same handpiece at the same time. One tightens the surface. The other reaches the SMAS. Both in a single pass, which is the specific thing single-frequency competitors can't replicate.
